Equator studios

Equator Studios, once devoted to film and TV sound tracks and Charlie's own writing projects, is now open to other musicians and singers to work in. With a basic philosophy of 'keep it real' the aim is to produce high quality recordings on a reasonable budget with minimum of fuss.

Based on Logic Audio software used in conjunction with a funky Mackie desk with various bits of outboard the studio has its own drum kit, piano, amps, and various of acoustic, electric and ethnic instruments. The room naturally has good acoustics, which can also be adapted as required. Charlie usually plays a part in the overall production, plays string or electric bass as part of the house rhythm section, and can usually be persuaded to dub fiddle, accordion or keyboard parts as needs be.

Paul Astles, Johnny Atkinson, Sam Brown John Collis, Ed Deane, Roy Dodds, Mike Figgis, Klondyke Pete and the Huskies, Billy Jenkins, Chris Jagger, Jazzman John, George Khan, Pete Lemer, Tony Lording, Samba Mapangala, Tom McGuiness, Les Morgan, Mike Paice, Dan Raza, Bobby Valentino, Ben Waters and Geraint Watkins have all recorded in Equator Studios and have generally found it sounds great and provides a congenial and relaxed space in which to work. Other projects have included the recording of unaccompanied Swedish folk songs, Inuit music, African, ballet and classical music.

If you are considering a recording project of your own and would like to more about this unique recording environment please contact Charlie.
